The drying of compressed air by adsorption is a purely physical process in which water vapor is bound (adsorbed) to a desiccant by deposition. For adsorption, the moist compressed air is passed through the adsorption dryer. As the compressed air flows through the vessel from bottom to top, the compressed air comes into contact with the hydrophilic desiccant. The desiccant thereby absorbs the moisture and dry compressed air flows out of the vessel.
